Mini WHISPA (Women’s Health in Sport and Physical Activity) for primary school aged girls is derived from our secondary WHISPA event. This event has been running successfully for a number of years, engaging previously inactive young females in physical activity. We have now reached out to our primary schools, with a view to target these girls a little sooner!
This programme is targeted towards KS2 girls who are disengaged from PE/school sport, lack in confidence or ability, or are generally inactive. Aside from the disengaged, this programme is also useful for girls who have the potential to be high achievers in PE but can be, for example, reserved or overwhelmed by competition. Mini WHISPA is focussed around alternative sports such as Archery, Ultimate Frisbee, Boxercise and Fencing in order to provide the girls with something new and exciting. The sessions are designed to improve confidence by allowing girls of similar abilities to thrive amongst each other, whilst building camaraderie, and most importantly enjoyment!
