About Health and Wellbeing

About

The health and wellbeing strand of Leicester City School Sport & Physical Network aims to engage children and young people in sport and physical activity through bespoke weekly programme delivery and city wide one off events addressing numerous challenges to leading a healthy and active life.

Aim

Our aim is to ensure that all children and young people take away what they have learnt with us to improve their health and wellbeing, and develop lifelong habits that have positive impacts as they move into adolescence and adulthood

We also work to improve health and wellbeing in all our Leicester City schools, educating and supporting staff to ensure the sustainability of health and wellbeing provisions continues beyond our programmes.

What we offer

We currently offer 5 bespoke programmes aimed at girls in sport, fundamental movement and health and wellbeing. These programmes are aimed at different age groups and created for specific challenges and barriers highlighted within our cities children and young people. Please see below for more details.

Throughout the year we also host 6 Health & Wellbeing festivals across the city, which are attended by over 800 children from our Leicester City schools.

Our Individual Programmes include:

MINI-WHISPA
An activity based programme planned around the interests and needs of the girls. This programme is for year up to 15 year 3/4 girls who are low in confidence, who may or may not enjoy sport but feel anxious to join teams or participate in PE lessons. BALANCEABILITY

A progressive programme aimed to help children ride bikes who may not get the opportunity to outside of school. This involves fundamental skills as well as specific cycling skills aimed at up to 12 reception and year 1 students. For more information and to book sessions click here.

SPARX

A programme aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of children. Aimed at students who need improvement in lifestyle habits including diet, exercise, confidence, movement. This programme is also for kids who lack opportunity outside of school. Aimed at up to 15 reception – year 2 students.  For more information and to book sessions click here.

ENERGISE

A programme aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of children. Aimed at students who need improvement in lifestyle habits including diet, exercise, confidence, movement. SPECIALISED FUNDAMENTALS

This programme is a new programme which brings together fundamental movement, SAQ and kimbles for children who struggle with movement, behaviour and academic capabilities. This programme is aimed at up to 10 children in reception – year 2. For more information and to book sessions click here.
